Berhampur: Berhampur MLA Bikram Kumar Panda has lent helping hands to a destitute patient and assured all possible support.
The MLA visited Shiva Shankar, who is struggling for his life at the City Hospital here.
After visiting the City Hospital, Bikram said “I heard about his condition when I was in Bhubaneswar for the Assembly Session. Immediately I sent a few party workers to look into the matter. The Sub-Collector has also sanctioned money from the Red Cross fund. Today I came to see myself about his treatment. The Chief Minister has instructed for his free treatment. Now money is not a matter for his treatment. All treatment will be provided free of cost and he will be sent to the MKCG for plastic surgery. We will see that he not only recovers well but lives a good life in the future.”
The State Government will do everything to help him out at this juncture, the legislator told media after discussing with the doctors and medical staff about the patient, who was brought to the hospital in a serious burn condition after he accidentally fell on hot oil in July this year.
Working as a cook in a hotel in Kashinagar of Gajapati District, Shiva’s condition is said to be serious and there is nobody to take care of him at the hospital.
The agony of Shiva Shankar doubled when his wife left him at the hospital and parted ways.
With a half burnt face and painful body, Shiva is fed up with the life and is also talking of Euthanasia out of despair.
Fighting for his life, he says he does not want to live life like this.
With the help of the district administration, he is expected to be shifted to the MKCG Hospital as early as possible, sources said.
The administration has taken up the issue of his treatment and provided rupees ten thousand for his treatment. He is being provided all treatment free of cost under the OSTF funds.
