Berhampur: Berhampur Police has arrested three persons including the mastermind for allegedly duping a youth on the pretext of providing him a government job.
Pradyumn Pollai (31), a resident of Rajapur village of Chatrapur area, has been identified as the mastermind of the gang that runs the job racket.
Pollai and two members of the gang – Asish Mahapatra (29) of Medical Bank Colony area in Berhampur and Mihir Rout (30) of Paradip in Jagatsinghpur have been nabbed by the police for defrauding one Girija Nandan Pandit (31) of Panchanana 2nd Nagar Old Berhampur of Rs 5,00,000 by promising him to provide a government job.
Asish Mahapatra contacted Girija several time and approached for government job, gave a false promissory note of 5,00,000 and promised him that within six months he will provide him a government job and took Rs 5,00,000. After taking money he invited Girija to Bhubaneswar to meet the “Boss” Mihir Kumar Rout and Pradyumna Pollai.
After several visit to Bhubaneswar, they failed to provide any government job in this four years. During the last visit in June 2024, they called the complainant to Master Canteen Bhubaneswar and assaulted him.
IIC Badabazar PS Inspector Babasabkar Saraf took up investigation of this case. During investigation accused persons were apprehended and on interrogation and verification, it came to light that all the accused persons were involved in a network that Target unemployed and cheat unemployed Youth in the name of government jobs, said Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
Pradyumn Pollai is the master mind of the gang. To execute his plan, he engaged Mihir Rout and Asish Mahapatra to collect money and prepare fake paper work, fake government seal, govt. logo, signature etc.
They have collected original certificates of different students of different district in the name of giving them Govt. job. The accused persons are doing such type of cheating with the general innocent unemployed youths since around 4 years and have collected huge amount. Accused persons are maintaining luxurious life style by cheating the money of the innocent victims, the Berhampur SP added.
