Berhampur Police Bust Satta Racket; 5 Including Woman Arrested

Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has busted a satta racket and arrested five persons including a woman in this connection.

The accused persons were identified as Santosini Maharana (33) of Mathura Nagar PS Badabazar, K. Bipra (46) of Mochi Sahi Near Biju Pattnaik Park, PS- Berhampur Town, G. Balaji (38) of Khalasi Street PS- Berhampur Town, Koteswara Patra (73) of Baljipentha Sahi, PS Badabazar and Jitendra Das (28) of Balajipentha Gouda Sahi, PS-Badabazar Berhampur.

Based on reliable information regarding satta gambling at Hanuman Nagar near Badabazar area, the Badabazar Police conducted a raid over a tea stall of Santosini Maharana where the the accused persons were conjointly running a Lottery Office of Satta betting chits and drawl of lucky numbers since last week.

The accused persons were canvassing the common people for betting in satta lucky numbers under the online captions of Kalyani, Madhuri, Sridevi, Time Bazar. The accused persons have falsely assured the public of getting 90 times higher profit in 1 rupee and were cheating the people, the police said.

During the raid, the police also seized cash worth Rs. 44,660, 59 numbers of satta number chit books, three smart phones and one keypad phone and a vehicle.

The accused persons have been arrested and being forwarded to court. Investigation of the case is in progress, informed Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M in a statement.
