Berhampur Police Busts Fake Certificate Racket, Four Arrested 

Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has busted a fake certificate racket and arrested as many as four persons in this connection.

The accused persons are Daitari Behera (52) and Amrut Prasad Behera (25), both from Langaleswar village under Khalikote PS in Ganjam district. Other two arrested persons are Prashanta Kumar Sahoo (39) of Dhenkanal district and Kishore Kumar Behera (52) of Cuttack district.

As per police, one Manoranjan Gauda (46) of Kahakpur village under Rambha PS Dist-Ganjam, a teacher in DAV Public School, Andhapasara Road, PS lodged a complaint at Gosaninuagaon PS alleging that Daitari Behera provided fake certificates to Aparajita Gauda, wife of Manoranjan Gauda.

In the year 2016, Aparajita Gauda joined in B.Ed Course in Acharya Nagarjun University located at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh through Daitari Behera who works as a teacher in Debijhar Govt High School under Khalikote. Manoranjan’s wife completed her B.Ed course in the year 2019 .

When he asked Daitari Behera to provide the certificate, Daitari Behera initially avoided him with different pleas. Even he was preventing him from proceeding to the University himself to get the certificate. After much persuasion Daitari Behera provided him the certificates of all four semesters and the provisional degree. Daitari Behera took money in the form of cheques from the complainant.

After doubting the work of Daitari Behera, Manoranjan himself went to Acharya Nagarjun University on 10.06.22 and after verification, came to know that out of the certificates given by Daitari Behera, certificate of first and third semesters as well as the provisional degree were fake and forged. When he obtained the certificates of first and third semester from the university, found that both the certificates were withheld. Daitari Behera took money from him and cheated him by making fake certificate and giving it to him as genuine.

Amrut Prasad Behera, son of Daitari Behera is arrested for conspiring along with his father and knowing well about his activities and supporting him in his activities. Prashanta Kumar Sahoo of Dhenkanal was supplying fake certificates to Daitari Behera on his demand. Prashanta Kumar Sahoo is running a xerox cum printing centre in Dhenkanal. Searching his house and office led to the discovery of many blank certificates of Board of secondary education and Counsel of higher secondary education. Many fake seals of doctors and college principals were also seized from him, the police said.

Kishore Kumar Behera of Cuttack was supplying the papers used in making the certificates to Prashanta Kumar Sahoo. Kishore Kumar Behera was previously arrested once in Jeypore PS case related to fake certificate and currently he is out in bail. Further investigation is going on, Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M said in a statement.
