Berhampur Police Busts Fake Job Racket; 3 Arrested, 92 Passports Seized

Berhampur: Berhampur Police has busted a fake job racket and arrested three persons allegedly involved in the racket.

The accused persons have been identified as Chinapani Mohan Reddy (48), who hails from B.C Road, Benojithota, PS: New Port Police station, Pedagyantada, Visakhapatnam, AP; Potanapalli Simanchalam (40), from 1-297, Santhi Nagar, ChinavankaPallisaradhi, PS: Kasigguda, Dist: Srikakulam, AP and Tadela Dhilleswara Rao (35), who is from Kasibugga, PS: Kasibugga, Near indian oil petrol pump, Dst: Srikakulam, AP.

The police also seized 92 passports, application Information, screenshot of financial transactions and 20 Tourist VISAs issued by the Republic of Kenya government.

On February 5, one Prabhat Dalai (35) of Pendurapalli, Langleswar, PS-Kholikote reported at Gosaninuagaon PS alleging that one Ch. Mohan Reddy of Kutharisingh village, PS-Golanthara has taken cash of Rs.9,70,000 from 20 candidates and 92 original passports from 92 candidates to give them job in Kenya. He demanded Rs.25,000 advance for each candidates to provide them original passport . After 10 days he gave them offer letter of intex company. Then after 10 days he provided tourist visa to 20 candidates.

On demand 20 candidates gave Rs.48,500 to a total of 9,70,000 to Ch. Mohan Reddy at Mamata Guest house, Station Road, Gosaninuagaon through UPI payment and by cash.

When the complaint and other people tried to contact him over telephone for air ticket to Kenya, he did not respond. While the victims contacted him through other mobile number he abused them in filthy languages. Hence he reported at PS for taking legal action against him. Based on this report IIC registered PS case No.34 dated 05.02.2024 U/S 420/294 IPC.

During the course of investigation, it is ascertained that the accused persons named above used to cheat the public by giving them false assurance to give them job in different countries by arranging VISA taking money and passport from them. They used collect passport and relevant documents from the victims by visiting their locality and arrange the tourist VISA instead of employment VISA with the help of their other associates. The authenticity of the company which issued offer letter is under verification.

As there is prima-facie evidence well made out U/S 420/294 IPC against the accused Ch. Mohan Reddy , SI Krutibas Nayak arrested all three accused persons on 19.02.2024 observing all the formalities of arrest. and forwarded to court today. The investigation of this case is in progress, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
