Berhampur: The Berhampur Police foiled a dacoity attempt in the wee hours of Wednesday by arresting three anti-socials.
The three arrested persons have been identified as Sankar Das (34) of Old Berhampur, Sonu alias Ranjeet Sahu (31) of Lathi village and Sai Kiran Gouda (21) of Lathi village.
The Berhampur Sadar police also recovered two Iron swords, two iron rods, two country made bombs and other incriminating articles from their possession.
A group of anti-socials gathered at a mandap near Lathi village armed with deadly weapons and making preparation to commit dacoity on the night plying vehicles on the Berhampur-Mahuda road at around 3.45 AM.
On getting the information, the Sadar Police immediately rushed to the spot and conducted raid,
During raid, the cops apprehended three anti-socials and three-four others escaped taking advantage of darkness.
The accused persons have been forwarded to the court on Wednesday. Further investigation is going on in the case, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M in a statement.
