Berhampur Police Introduces Body Cameras during MV Checking

Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has decided to introduce body cameras during MV checking in order to bring transparency and ensure good behaviour by the cops towards public during MV checking.

Currently, five body cameras will be introduced. The cameras will be worn in the uniform. More such cameras will be introduced very soon.

During MV checking, police staff stops vehicles that do not follow traffic rules. Sometimes there are allegations of misbehavior against police and also allegations of misbehavior against traffic rules violators. In order to bring transparency and to ensure good behaviour by the Police towards Common Public, Body cameras are being introduced by Berhampur Police, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.

These cameras have coverage of 120°, with both video and audio recording. It can record upto 6 hours in one full charge. These cameras will initially be used at Sanda chak under Gopalpur PS and important and busy locations of Berhampur.

The Berhampur SP further said that the probe is underway regarding the allegation of assault on the pillion rider during vehicle checking by Gopalpur PS. If there’s any misbehavior found strictest action will be taken against the erring police staff, he added.
