Berhampur Police Seizes Huge Quantities of Illegal Firecrackers; 4 Arrested 

Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has seized huge quantities of illegal firecrackers at different places in the city.

Four persons have been arrested by the police.

The accused persons have been identified as Rabi Jena (23) of Old Berhampur, M. Surya Narayan (45) of Pandit Street PS-Badabazar, M. Surya Narayan (45) of Pandit Street PS-Badabazar and Pitambar Sethy (45) of Rajama Street PS-Badabazar.

Rabi Jena was caught with an auto rickshaw loaded with illegal fire crackers of nine big cartoons. Siba Sahu was caught with huge quantity of fire crackers from his rented house. Surya Narayan was caught with huge fire crackers from his rented house. Sethy was caught with huge fire crackers from his rented house. He has absconded evading police action.

The Berhampur Police is trying to ascertain the source of procurement of such illegal fire crackers. Legal action has been initiated against the accused persons in their respective cases.

Storing and shifting firecrackers without permission is illegal. So far all together seven cases of processing and transporting firecrackers illegally has been registered in Berhampur police district, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.

Sadar PS has detected one case and BNpur PS has detected two cases. Four cases have been detected by Badabazar PS.

The total worth of all seized firecrackers is approximately more than Rs 10 lakh.

Meanwhile, the Berhampur SP has urged the people to inform the police if they come across any illegal storing of firecrackers.
