Berhampur: Shops Selling Non-Essential Items Now Open between 1PM to 7PM

BeMC Changes Timing to Control Morning Rush at Markets

Berhampur: Taking a strong note on morning rush at markets, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) today made changes in timing for shops selling non-essential items in the city.

In a fresh order, BeMC Commissioner Chakravarti Singh Rathore that timing for shops selling non-essential items will be allowed to open from 1pm to 7pm.

The following category of shops will be allowed to open only from 01.00 PM to 07.00 PM with effect from May 13.

1. Gift shop
2. Cloth store,
3. Jewellery shops,
4. Ladies corners
5. Internet cafe,
6. Mobile recharge
7. Xerox shops
8. Book shops /stationery
9. Photo studio & lab
10. Tailoring shops
11. Showroom for electronics (shops which are not selling spare parts)
12. Mobile phones (shops which are not selling spare parts)
13. Two wheeler and four wheeler workshops, spare parts of two wheeler & four wheeler.
14. Electronics and home appliance shops including mobile, T.V, Computer etc. (with maximum 05 customers at a time. (shops which are not selling spare parts)
15. Single brand and multi brand showrooms, market complexes and malls. It is the duty of the Market Association to ensure social distancing.

Rest shops, not included in the list can open from 07.00 AM to 07.00 PM, including, electric shops selling repair part including fan, bulb, wire, switch etc, shops selling agriculture equipment, the order said.

Timing for opening of Restaurants, Hotels, Medicine shops, clinics , hospitals remains as per previous order.

Any person, violating these lockdown measures and the National Directives for COVID-19 Management will be liable for prosecution as per the provisions of section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act., 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC, the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and other legal provisions as applicable and seizure of shops, the order added.
