Berhampur: Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.-led high level drugs disposal committee on Saturday destroyed huge quantity of contraband seized in different cases.
Under the Chairmanship of Berhampur SP, the Berhampur District Drugs Disposal Committee destroyed 6,340.7 kg ganja and 268 gram brown sugar at Common Biomedical Waste Treatment and Disposal facility in Sheragada.
The contrabands were seized by the Excise Enforcement & Intelligence Bureau, Berhampur unit and Gosaninuagaon and Digapahandi PSs of Berhampur police district.
Other members of disposal committee including SP Excise and Tahasildar Sheragada were present during the destruction.
As per the Berhampur SP, these ganja were seized in 126 cases of EI&EB , 42 cases of Berhampur Excise department and 4 cases of Gosaninuagaon PS and Digapahandi PS.
Previously, 4972.5 kg ganja and 9.48 gram brown sugar has been destroyed in 5 times.
Till now, 11,313.2 kg ganja and 277.48 g brown sugar has been destroyed at the same facility.
