Berhampur: The Berhampur Police on Friday arrested a youth for allegedly possessing brown sugar.
The Town Police seized brown sugar weighing 7 grams 20 milligrams inside a half constructed building at Khalikote University Ground here.
The arrested person has been identified as V. Ashis Kumar alias Candel Ashis (21) of Prem Nagar 4th line under Bada Bazar PS.
Based on reliable information, SI Gyanaranjan Sethy of Berhampur Town PS along with other police personnel conducted raid and detected the brown sugar from Asish Kumar inside half constructed building at Khalikote University Ground.
The police seized one small plastic container containing the brown sugar, one polythene packet containing 10 small pieces of red colour papers of size 2 “x2” and one tiny spoon with plastic handle, one mobile set and cash worth Rs 4300.
The accused is forwarded to the court. The case is under investigation, Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said in a statement.
