Bhadrak: Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested Tapan Kumar Nayak, Secretary of Chandigaon SCS in Bhadrak district for allegedly taking bribe from a paddy farmer.
Nayak has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.9,000 from the farmer for his iris (eye) scanning to authenticate him as the registered farmer under the above Society for purchase of 240 Qntls of paddy.
The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous house searches are going on at two locations of Nayak from DA angle, the Vigilance said while adding that a case has been registered at Balasore Vigilance PS against the SCS Secretary.
Investigation is in progress against Nayak, it added.
