Bhubaneswar: Odisha capital city Bhubaneswar has won the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Eat Right Challenge and has ranked fourth in the country.
This has been informed by the State Health and Family Welfare Department.
The award was received by Designated Officer, Food Safety, BMC and State Nodal Officer, Food Safety from Union Heath Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on the occasion of World Food Safety Day at New Delhi.
The achievement has been possible because of the numerous efforts in strengthening the food safety ecosystem in the State, the Health Department said.
The Eat Right Challenge is a national level competition to recognise efforts of the Municipal Bodies, Districts and Food Safety Commissioners in implementing various initiatives under Eat Right India.
The FSSAI announced the challenge in June 2020, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the enrolling date was extended to January 2022. A total of 188 districts across the country enrolled in the challenge.
