Bhubaneswar-Dubai Maiden Flight To Commence From Tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: Opening a new chapter in international connectivity from Odisha, the Biju Patnaik International Airport Bhubaneswar will see its maiden international flight service to Dubai commence from tomorrow. All preparations have been completed for this historic flight that is going to bring international destinations closer to Odisha.

The direct flight service to Dubai is being operated by Indigo in association with the Government of Odisha. The flight service from Bhubaneswar to Dubai will be available thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

With a view to bring in more and more international tourists to Odisha and to attract more investments, the Odisha Government has partnered with Indigo for this direct flight service. The Odisha government will bear the expenditure towards the direct flight operation from Bhubaneswar to Dubai and in lieu, the revenue generation through ticketing will be retained by the state government.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the sale of ticket for the first direct flight from Bhubaneswar to Dubai on the occasion of Utkal Diwas. During the occasion Naveen had said “Connectivity is key to development and it has been a focus area of our government. Direct connectivity with Dubai which is one of the biggest aviation hubs will open up a direct gateway to the world”.

“Not only it will provide seamless connectivity but also it will have a huge multiplier effect on investment in Odisha in sectors like IT, manufacturing and tourism. This is the aspiration of New Odisha and I am very happy to open ticket sales for the Dubai Flight,” he had said.

The maiden flight to Dubai will see ten Mission Shakti Self help Group Members who will be visiting Dubai for the first time. Also, some sportspersons, tribal leaders, Skilled in Odisha students and artists are also likely to board the flight tomorrow. The International Terminal of The Biju Patnaik International Airport has been decked up for the Dubai flight tomorrow. The return ticket to Dubai has been fixed at Rs 20000.
