New Delhi: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav on Tuesday lashed out at the Opposition for ‘engaging in politics’ over the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), saying that Article 44 of the Constitution has established directive principles for states regarding the UCC.
He emphasised that the BJP is implementing the UCC in accordance with the Constitution. “Article 44 states that the State shall endeavour to secure a Uniform Civil Code for all citizens throughout India. What wrong are we doing?” he asked.
He also mentioned the Pasmanda community and stated that this marginalised Muslim community had been neglected for a long time by those who claim to be protectors of Muslims.
He further said that the Mandal Commission had identified backward castes, and the Pasmandas were among those identified.
Meanwhile, Yadav hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over Delhi’s law and order situation, stating that Kejriwal has no right to comment on it when his ministers are involved in corruption.
The Union Minister also hit back at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her remarks that the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were threatening people not to vote in the upcoming Panchayat elections on behalf of the BJP, saying it was all a lie.
