Big Push to Industry: Odisha Govt Approves Whopping Rs 1,753 Crore Investment Plan

Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to industrialization and employment generation, the Odisha Government today approved as many as six investment proposals envisaging Rs. 1,753.82 crore investment in the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting.

According to sources these proposals will create employment opportunities for 5,566 people.

The proposals approved in the meeting belong to diversified sectors including textile & apparel, food processing, metal & metal downstream, plastics and tourism.

The SLSWCA approved the proposal of M/s Page Industries Ltd (Unit -2), whose flagship brand is “Jockey”, to set up a Garment manufacturing unit At- Khordha, with a total investment of Rs. 257.50 crore providing employment to about 3,500 people.

Another proposal of M/s Jay Bharat Spices Pvt. Ltd for diversification of its unit with addition of Potato Chips/ Wafers Extruded Puffed snack and cold storage facilities At- Ramdaspur, Dist- Cuttack, with additional investment of Rs.50.10 crores employing around additional 550 people, was approved.

Proposal of M/s Shree Malani Foams Pvt. Ltd., makers of the “Centuary” brand mattress, was also approved by the SLSWCA for additional investment of Rs. 10.00 Cr for setting up Rebounded Foam block (RBF) unit having 5,00 TPA capacity at Khordha. It will provide an additional employment to around 25 people.

In the Tourism sector, project by M/s. Deo Residency and Resorts Pvt Ltd for expansion of its existing hotel at Baragadia, Kalinga Nagar in the district of Jajpur with an investment of Rs. 53.69 Crores, was approved, which will provide employment for 90 people.

In the metal downstream sector, proposal of M/s. Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA) was approved for setting up a Ferro Chrome unit (96,000 MT per annum) and 10 MW WHRB power plant at Kalinga Nagar, Jajpur with a total investment of Rs. 547.19 crores, which will create employment opportunities for 900 people.

Another proposal in the metal sector was approved, namely M/s Shri Jagannath Steel & Power Limited for expansion of its existing 0.1 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant to 0.3 MTPA capacity at Uliburu, Nalda, Barbil, Dist: Keonjhar with a total investment of Rs. 835.34 crore providing additional employment of 501 people.
