Mumbai: In one of the biggest twists in Indian politics that nobody expected, Debendra Fadnavis has taken oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
NCP’s Ajit Pawar has also taken oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharastra.
Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office to both the leaders.
The latest move by both the BJP and NCP has come as a shocker to the Congress and Shiv Sena as there were no clues to this type of combination in Maharashtra.
The deliberations between Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP had reached a crucial stage yesterday and all eyes were on the formal announcement of the deal. But the mid night twist has surprised everyone.
After taking the oath, Devendra Fadnavis has said that People had given us a clear mandate, but Shiv Sena tried to ally with other parties after results, as a result President’s rule was imposed. Maharashtra needed a stable govt not a ‘khichdi’ govt.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said from result day to this day no party was able to form Government and Maharashtra was facing many problems including farmer issues, so we decided to form a stable Government.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have congratulated both the leaders after they took Oath of Office.
Congratulations to @Dev_Fadnavis Ji and @AjitPawarSpeaks Ji on taking oath as the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively. I am confident they will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra.
