Patna: Amid the spike in COVID-19 cases, the Bihar Government has extended the lockdown for a period of 16 days with effect from August 1.
“The requirement for a lockdown…is inevitable and urgent to contain the further spread of COVID-19 within the state,” an order issued by the Home Department of Bihar said.
The commercial and private offices will be allowed to operate at 50% strength, with exceptions, it added.
Earlier, Bihar had imposed a total lockdown in the State from July 16 to 31 to contain the spread of coronavirus infection.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in Bihar surged to 43,591 and death toll to 269, according to reports.
