Bargarh: Biju Janata Dal supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has again emerged as the larger than life figure in the State as his party has registered landslide victory with a huge margin of over 97,990 votes in the by-elections to Bijepur Assembly seat in Bargarh district.
This victory margin is the highest in the history of Odisha Assembly elections.
The previous highest margin of 94555 was By Bishwa Bhushan Harichandan in 2000 Assembly elections. This bye election was warranted because Naveen Patnaik vacated this seat after retaining his traditional seat Hinjilicut in the 2019 general elections.
It may be noted that BJD had never won this seat in 15 years till 2018.
After final round of counting, BJD candidate Rita Sahu has secured 1,35,949 votes, while the BJP and Congress received 37,955 and 5,871 votes respectively.
The charismatic leadership of Naveen Patnaik has once again helped his party to retain the Bijepur seat and with a record margin.
The party emerged numero uno position in the last General and Assembly elections in Odisha.
The results reaffirmed that Naveen remains the all-time favorite and the people of Bijepur want his leadership for the development of their constituency.
Naveen has categorically promised to look after the development of Bijepur himself to which the people of Bijepur are happy.
