New Delhi: Former IAS officer Bimal Julka was appointed as the new Chief Information Commissioner of the Central Information Commission.
The oath of office was administered by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind at an event held this morning in the Rashtrapathi Bhavan
The post of Chief Information Commissioner has been lying vacant since the former Chief, Sudhir Bhargava’s term came to an end on January 11, this year.
With the appointment of Information Commissioner Julka as the new Chief, the number of Information Commissioners has fallen to 5 as against a sanctioned strength of 11 Commissioners.
