Berhampur: The Binayak Acharya College authorities have decided to rusticate all 12 students seen in the ragging video of a junior girl student of the college.
The anti-ragging cell of the college took the decision to give the students their TCs and remove them from the college.
The development came a day after Berhampur Police arrested three students based on the report of the victim of the viral video.
The three arrested students and two juveniles will be produced to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).
As per the Supreme Court guidelines, every educational institution should have an internal anti ragging cell comprising group of senior teachers both male and female. Every new batch students as soon as they join a college will be given a class about anti ragging mechanisms by the anti-ragging cell.
Junior students will know whom to complain in case of such ragging. If ragging is reported internal anti ragging cell will investigate the matter and take appropriate action. If any criminal act is found by the anti ragging cell, it will immediately be reported to police and lawful action would be taken against the students involved in ragging. If required students involved in ragging will be arrested also like in this case.
Students, teachers and parents can dial 112 and report against ragging in any institution over phone. They can also report to the nearest police station if institutional anti ragging cell is not responding properly. It is the duty of every college administration to ensure peaceful and ragging free environment for junior students, Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M said.
