BJD Raises Questions on State Govt’s Silence on ASO Attack Incident

Bhubaneswar: The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has raised questions on the State Government’s silence on the incident of Governor Raghubar Das’s son assaulting an Assistant Section Officer in Puri.

In a press briefing, senior BJD leader and MLA Pratap Keshari Deb said that such behaviour of the Governor’s son is highly condemnable.

Despite FIR, no action has been taken by the police. The Home & General Administration Department is under the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister should ensure justice, Deb said.

The BJP is talking about the Odia Asmita. The attack by Governor’s son on an Odia officer is an attack on Odia Asmita, the BJD said.

The Chief Minister has himself opened a grievances cell. He should give justice to the common employee, Deb said.

Earlier, Odisha Secretariat Service Association wrote to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi demanding action against Lalit Kumar, son of Governor Raghubar Das.

Kumar along with five other persons, allegedly attacked Baikuntha Pradhan, an officer on duty at the Odisha Secretariat Service, late in the night of 7th July 2024.

Pradhan has alleged that Lalit Kumar attacked him while on duty. The matter came to light after the ASO lodged a written complaint with the Principal Secretary to the Governor.
Pradhan, Asst. Section Officer, Parliamentary Affairs Department, is currently working on deployment basis at Governor’s Household.
