BJD Targets BJP, Says Saffron Party Has No Candidates To Field For At Least 80 Constituencies

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party Odisha unit has no candidates to field in at least 80 assembly constituencies of the state for the coming Assembly elections. The saffron party is finding it difficult to field suitable candidates in the state. BJP, which was boasting of winning 80 seats in the state, is unable to find candidates for even 80 constituencies. Speaking to media, Biju Janata Dal spokesperson Swayam Prakash Mahapatra has lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party for inducting members with criminal antecedents into the saffron party.

He said, “What we have been saying continuously is being proven true. The BJP is finding it difficult to field 147 MLA candidates. Actually, the party could not even select candidates for at least 80 seats. In 2024, BJP wanted to form the government by winning 80 seats. It has not announced even a single candidate till today. This is the real position of Odisha BJP. As the party does not have candidates, it is bringing into its fold expelled leaders from other parties, leaders who have been denied tickets from other parties and candidates with criminal records. The saffron party has started searching for candidates in villages, from bus stands and railway stations etc. The people of the state have already known the reality that the BJP has no candidates.”
