Bhubaneswar: A team of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has returned from Andhra Pradesh after reviewing the impact of Polavaram project on Odisha.
The BJD team has made a two-day visit to East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh to review the various aspects of project, as per the report.
The team comprising senior leaders such as Devi Prasad Mishra, Atanu Savasachi Naik, Pradeep Majhi and Bhrigu Baxipatra will submit its report to BJD President Naveen Patnaik.
Earlier, a fact-finding team of the BJD had submitted an extensive report on the project after visiting Motu, Alma and Peta Binayakpur villages in Malkangiri district. The team also took opinions of the locals regarding the project.
The Polavaram project by the Andhra Pradesh government is likely cause hardship to people in various districts of Odisha, particularly Malkangiri. Odisha is expected to suffer significant losses from this project without gaining any benefits. The BJD has been opposing the project since its inception, as per the reports.
