Bhubaneswar: Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will be sending a special team to review the impact of the Andhra Pradesh government’s controversial Polavaram project on the areas in Odisha.
BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has formed the team, which will visit the affected areas of Malkangiri district on August 8, as per the reports.
The team, which will be led by Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, includes several senior leaders including Devi Prasad Mishra, Pradeep Majhi, Bhrugu Baxipatra, and local leaders from Malkangiri district.
After reviewing the ground situation, the team will submit a report to party President Naveen Patnaik.
Recently, the BJD has strongly opposed the Polavaram project, which is likely to submerge a large chunk of land in Malkangiri district.
Naveen said that the BJD has been fighting for justice in the Polavaram issue. Allocating more and more funds for Polavaram project by the Centre without sorting out the genuine grievances of Odisha shows impartiality against Odisha, he added.
