Bhubaneswar: As directed by Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, the teams of Biju Janata Dal have met the opposition MLAs seeking their support for Droupadi Murmu in the ensuing Presidential election.
As per reports, the BJD teams have conveyed the message of the Chief Minister to CPI-M MLA Laxman Munda and Congress MLA Ramesh Chandra Jena.
A BJD team comprising Sanjib Malik, Bhagirathi Sethi, Ananta Das and Basanti Hembram met the CIP-M MLA and conveyed the appeal of the Chief Minister to support Odisha’s daughter Droupadi Murmu in the Presidential election.
Laxman Munda has welcomed the appeal of the Chief Minister and said that he will vote as per the decision of his party.
Similarly, senior BJD leaders Pramila Mallik, Srikant Sahu, Satyanarayan Pradhan and Minakshi Mahanta met Congress legislator Ramesh Chandra Jena and conveyed the Chief Minister’s message to support and ensure Murmu’s victory in the July 18 Presidential election.
Jena said that he will consider it in discussion with his party.
Besides, a BJD delegation including Pritiranjan Gharai, Tusharkanti Behera, Snehangini Chhuria and Rajkishore Das met senior Congress leader and Rajgangpur MLA C S Raazen Ekka and requested him to support Murmu in the election.
