Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal’s newly formed social wing Odisha- Mo Parivar has helped in rescuing seven Odia labourers who were stranded in Dubai for the last few months.
The incident came to light when a local journalist of Jajpur informed Odisha-Mo Parivar Co-convener Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak about the seven laborers stranded in Dubai and were being exploited by the employer. All the seven persons belonged to Jajpur District.
Members of Odisha-Mo Parivar immediately intervened and the matter was discussed among Gopabandhu Dash, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, co-convenor of Odisha-Mo Parivar and Abani Sahu, legal advisor of Odisha-Mo Parivar.
After consulting with the family members of the stranded people, a case was filed at the Bari police station and on 6th December 2019, the agent who sent them was arrested. The resident commissioner of Odisha Ravikant was also intimated about the incident and was asked to take immediate steps. With the active involvement of the Resident Commissioner and the External Affairs Ministry, all stranded persons were brought back to India safely on 28th December 2019.
This is not the only incident where Odisha-Mo Parivar members have helped people in distress. The members are helping the needy as and when required. Biju Janata Dal Supremo Naveen Patnaik had announced the formation of Odisha-Mo Parivar, the pary’s social wing, on 25th October last year.
Naveen had said that, “Odisha-Mo Parivar is a tribute to late Biju Patnaik, who had always been working for the welfare of people of the State and lending support to poor and needy people. The BJD is committed to serving the State.” Odisha-Mo Parivar will focus mainly on environment, healthcare services and assistance to poor and deprived people.
