Bhubaneswar: The BJP government in Odisha has failed on all fronts. From soaring price rises to safety of women to investment, the state government has failed miserably in various areas. The failure of the government has created despair everywhere in Odisha, said BJD President and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik.
The BJD supremo made a scathing attack on the BJP government while addressing the party’s preparatory meeting for the Jana Sampark Padayatra and Membership Drive.
The BJD will kick-start the Jana Sampark Padayatra from October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The first phase of the Padayatra will end on October 6. After the puja, the second phase of the Padayatra will continue from October 21 to October 30. Similarly, the BJD will launch its Membership Drive for two months from October 9 on the occasion of birth anniversary of Utkalmani Pandi Gopabandhu Das to December 9, Naveen said.
Addressing the party’s preparatory meeting for the upcoming programmes, Naveen said that the BJP government has already completed 100 days in Odisha. But the failure of the government today has created despair everywhere. The soaring price of daily essential goods has made it difficult for the common man to run a household. Women do not feel safe. Violence against women is on the rise. Even government employees do not feel safe. Starting from Puri Raj Bhavan to Bharatpur police station, all these incidents are pointing fingers at the failure of the government. Investors are returning from Odisha. The industrialists have no hope of Odisha government. Many such failures have raised questions about the efficiency of the 100-day-old government, said BJD President Naveen Patnaik.
Naveen further said that that the BJP won the elections by telling lies. Elections can be won by lying, but not the hearts of the people. Be it Subhadra Yojana or free electricity or hike in pension, the BJP’s false promises have disappointed the common people today, Naveen said while urging the party leaders and workers to make the people aware of the failure and false promises of the BJP government.
The Biju Janata Dal is working as a responsible opposition party. For us, solving the problems of common man and interest of Odisha is the most important, Naveen added.
Mentioning the achievements of the BJD government in the last 24 years, Naveen said that between 2000 and 2024 Odisha has seen the highest increase in per capita income, which is more than the BJP-ruled double engine states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Assam. Similarly, the per capita debt of Odisha is also lower than the double engine states, he added.
Naveen advised the party leaders and workers to be active in social media platforms and work with determination to make the Jana Sampark Padayatra and Membership Drive successful.
