Bhubaneswar: In a surprising move, BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan on Wednesday filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha by-elections as an independent candidate.
Pradhan filed the nomination in the Odisha Assembly just hours after Mamata Mohanta filed her nomination as BJP candidate.
Mohanta filed her nomination in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the party’s Odisha-in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar, and BJP state unit chief Manmohan Samal and other party leaders.
However, after an hour, BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan has filed his nomination as an independent candidate.
Notably, Pradhan had unsuccessfully contested the recently concluded Assembly elections from Bhubaneswar (Central) seat.
