Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal today complained to the State Election Commission accusing BJP MP Suresh Pujari and BJP ZP candidates of violating the model code of conduct of Panchayat elections by allegedly holding large election campaigning programmes.
A delegation of BJD met the State Election Commissioner seeking strong action against the violators.
The Odisha’s ruling party alleged that Pujari has held a large Panchayat election campaigning programme in Attabira assembly constituency of Bargarh district on January 26.
“As uploaded by himself in his Facebook account along with photographs, the BJP MP himself has admitted that he has held a large Panchayat election campaigning programme in Attabira assembly constituency of Bargarh district yesterday, 26th January, 2022. This meeting he held was with his party candidates and party workers of Zilla Parishad zones of 1,3, 4 of Attabira and ZP zones of 1, 2 and 3 of Bheden of Bargarh district”, the BJD apprised the State Election Commissioner.
This is a gross violation of the model code of conduct by Pujari and the Zilla Parishad candidates of the BJP, the BJD stated.
