Bhubaneswar: A landmark initiative unfolds in the capital city as the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) laid the foundation for the conversion of 452 roads into Pucca, with 180 km of Kutcha roads to be transformed into durable paver block roads, requiring an investment of Rs 370 crores.
Today, the BMC distributed work orders amounting to 116 crores for 37 roads spanning over 59 km in a ceremony held at the Ekamra Hall of the BMC headquarters.
The program, guided by the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, witnessed the esteemed presence of Mayor Sulochana Das, MLA Central Ananta Narayana Jena, MLA North Susant Kumar Rout, Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhara, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange, Addl. Commissioner II Subhendu Sahu, Standing Committee Chairpersons, City Engineer Vilas Kumar Behera, and various dignitaries.
Under the generous funding from the CM, all Kutcha roads in the city are set to undergo a transformation into durable Pucca roads, as emphasized by MLA Central and North. BMC, in a special program, handed over the work orders to contractors, urging them to complete the projects within the stipulated time frame.
Mayor Sulochana Das emphasized the commitment to fulfilling the vision of Hon’ble CM’s BhubaneswarFirst, urging contractors to adhere to timelines. The community’s involvement and support are pivotal in these transformative projects. Corporators, BMC officials, and contractors will monitor the progress on a daily basis.
In his statement, the Commissioner of BMC highlighted the significance of these projects, stating that they are a testament to the respect and pride the state and city hold. The event witnessed the presence of corporators, contractors, engineers, senior BMC officials, and the dedicated BMC team.
