BMC Issues Guidelines For Dola; Maximum Six Persons Can Carry Idol

The Order strictly guides organizers to ensure presence of maximum 60 persons at any point of time at the Dola Melan Ground

Bhubaneswar: In view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has issued new guidelines for the forthcoming Dola Jatra under its jurisdiction. According to the guidelines issued today, only six persons are allowed to participate in the Idol Carrying ritual of Dola Jatra. It also restricts the number of persons at between 50 to sixty to be present at the Dola Melana Ground at any point of time with strict adherence to Covid appropriate behavior.

However, there shall be no procession and playing of sound instruments which are likely to attract the attention of public and will cause congregation. The persons carrying the Idol need to wear face mask appropriately as far as practicable. Also, there shall be no Jatra/Orchestra/Meena Bazar or any kind of celebrations in the Dola MeIan Padia. The BMC has asked the organizers to obtain written permissions from it to conduct the functions with above stipulations.
