Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued guidelines for plastic-free Durga Puja celebrations in Bhubaneswar.
The guidelines aims at promoting eco-friendly practices in the city during the puja celebrations.
As per the guidelines, the use of plastic materials is prohibited within puja pandals. To support this initiative, numerous dustbins will be strategically placed around the puja sites to encourage proper waste disposal.
The garbage collection vehicles will operate twice daily to maintain cleanliness and order throughout the celebrations.
The BMC has constructed five temporary water bodies to facilitate idol immersion.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das has stressed the significance of these eco-friendly measures, reaffirming the corporation’s commitment to protecting the environment during the festivities.
