Bhubaneswar: People from all walks join hands to celebrate FIH World Cup Hockey 2023 . The Walkathon, a citizens connect initiative of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), has been carried out in all wards of the city where corporators of each ward mobilized their fellow community members. The initiative has gathered about 300 different community members in each ward that counts 20,000 motivators in all wards for the cause.
Mayor Sulochana Das, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange, Addl. Comms, and Team BMC joined in at several places to motivate the citizens. personality like Olympian Anuradha Biswal, Swachh Brnand ambassador of BMC also joined in few events in north zone . Team of bicycle rally from Rourkela was welcomed by Mayor BMC at ward no. 12.
All Corporators in their respective wards showed great enthusiasm with community members in today’s walkathon. The range of activities conducted are friendly meetings, walks and slogans, Jhoti competition, song and music, branding with caps, cycling, decoration and home visit in wards, oath talking and signature campaign.
It witnessed the participation of many senior citizens apart from youths, men, women & children of the city walking high in spirits across all wards of the city. Senior citizens were also felicitated in several wards of the city for actively participating in today’s walkathon as support for Hockey India.
