Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation targets promotion of sanitation in the state capital at par with COVID-19 prevention activities.
It is not only COVID19, BMC gives equal importance to Sanitation, says Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhary. Few micro composting centres are ready to function and one at TTS is already functioning. In this connection to orient citizens on source Seggregation a special campaign has been started by the city authority.
Followed by a trial campaign yesterday in Ward no. 35&36, today the campaign has been started in ward no. 32 where it covered Jharpada Area & Adjacent Market Places.
The campaign started at 9.30 AM today was lead by Zonal Deputy Commissioner Ansuman Ratha.
The team went around the area and Door Tò Door visit in stage three, jharpada Jail area and Ganesh Mandap area. About 150 households and 50 vendors have been approached to follow and practise source Seggregation.
With a color leaflet team members have oriented the local people to keep two dust bins , one for dry and other for wet waste.
A dedicated Tableau announcing on source Seggregation and its benefits moved on the streets for dissemination of information.
A meeting with local residents was organised near Ganesh Mandap where 25 people were appealed by the ZDC to strictly follow source seggregation practices.
Yesterday a trial campaign has already been over in ward no 35 and 36 with on the ground mentoring support of Deputy Commissioner Establishment , Gayatri Samantaray.
The campaign yesterday covered unit 9 quarters area of ward 35 and Postal colony of ward 36.
Sanitary Inspector, ward Officer, Community Organisers ,Swachha Sathis, SBA cell experts and Sanitation Experts along with NGO representatives of CFAR(Centre For Advocacy And Research) and WISS (Way of Integrated Social Service)participated in the flagship programme.
Programme facilitation is being carried out under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner Sanitation ,Suvendu Kumar Sahoo.
