Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s commitment to promote hockey at the global scale got further boost as the International Hockey Federation has given FIH Category 3 certification to four hockey stadium in Sundargarh district.
Saunamara, Gurundia Subdega and Tileikani stadiums have received the FIH Category 3 Hockey field certificates.
The FIH has certified theses stadiums after conducting field tests and said that the stadiums shown to comply with the requirements of an FIH Category 3 hockey field.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the Department of Sports and Youth Services for the achievement.
The CM said that the stadiums will further boost infrastructure in hockey heartland and nurture talent at grassroots.
“Congratulations Department of Sports and Youth Services as four stadiums at Saunamara, Gurundia Subdega and Tileikani in Sundargarh district received FIH Category 3 Certification. They will further boost infrastructure in hockey heartland and nurture talent at grassroots”, the CMO tweeted.

As per the FIH, category 3 hockey fields are intended for national and local competitions and training.
