Bhubaneswar: Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba has reviewed the post Cyclone situation in Odisha in the National Crisis Management Committee meeting.
The meeting was held through Video Conferencing and was attended by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and other senior officials. During the meeting, the Union Cabinet Secretary has directed the officers of Central Ministries and departments to keep in close contact with the state government and provide all required assistance expeditiously.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will send its teams to carry out assessment of damages and submit a report as early as possible.
According to Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, the affected districts have been ordered to send their preliminary loss assessment reports immediately after which detailed report will be prepared.
The Collectors have been ordered to assess the loss to life, property and animals in their respective districts. According to Sudam Marandi, Minister, Revenue and Disaster Management, after getting the reports only a decision will be taken whether to ask the center for financial assistance or not.
While 89 blocks have been affected by the cyclone, two lakh people have been evacuated to safer places. Electricity will be restored in eighty percent of the villages by today evening. According to preliminary reports, about 44 lakh 88 thousand people have been affected by the cyclone and standing crops in One Lakh hectares have been damaged.
