New Delhi: Car sales in India were down 6.34% to 1,73,649 units during October 2019, sales of Utility Vehicles was up 22% to 1,00,725 units. Van sales declined 35% to 10,653 units, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
Total two-wheeler sales in October declined 14.43% to 17,57,264 units compared to 20,53,497 units in the year-ago month, the SIAM said.
While motorcycle sales declined 15.88 % to 11,16,970 units, that of scooter fell 9.8% to 580,120 units.
The data showed that sales of commercial vehicles were down 23.31% to 66,773 units in October 2019.
Passenger vehicle sales increased marginally by 0.28% during October 2019 at 2,85,027 units, a slight uptick from 2,84,223 units in the year-ago period breaking a 11-month declining streak, mainly driven by festive buying amid deep discounts.
Vehicle sales across categories fell 12.76% to 21,76,136 units compared to 24,94,345 units in October 2018.
