Centre Provides Land to Odisha Govt in Delhi for Setting up Cultural Centre and Library

New Delhi: The long-standing demand of Odisha has been fulfilled by the Centre by providing land to the State Government in Delhi for setting up an Odisha Cultural Centre and Library in the national capital.

As per reports, the Centre has provided 2.7 acre of land in national capital to the Odisha Government.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged the Centre for a suitable land in Delhi for construction of Odisha Cultural Centre and Library by the State Government stating that it was a long-felt need of the people of his state, residing in the capital, who were interested in the preservation and promotion of various cultural forms of Odisha.

On May 23 this year, a meeting of the Land Allotment Screening Committee under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs was to consider the state government’s proposal.

The meeting was chaired by Kamran Rizvi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The committee discussed the Odisha government’s land proposal. After considering all the issues, the committee decided to allocate 2.7 acres of land to the Odisha Government to set up an integrated campus, according to reports.
State guest house, cultural center, library and state government office will be set up in the integrated campus on land allotted at commercial rates, reports added.
