New Delhi: In a significant development, the Indian Space Research Organisation has said that it has successfully performed the final deboosting process further reducing the orbit of Chandrayaan-3 mission’s Lander Module (LM). With this important and critical maneuver, the countdown for the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 begins. As per the ISRO, now some critical internal checks will be undertaken before the historic landing.
Taking to X, ISRO tweeted “The second and final deboosting operation has successfully reduced the LM orbit to 25 km x 134 km. The module would undergo internal checks and await the sun-rise at the designated landing site. The powered descent is expected to commence on August 23, 2023, around 1745 Hrs. IST. Now, the Lander Module with Vikram lander and Pragyan rover is expected to land on the lunar surface on August 23 evening.
