Class 1 Student’s Death: Stringent Action Will Be Taken, Says Berhampur SP

Digapahandi: Taking a serious note on the incident in which a Class-I student died after falling off an auto-rickshaw near Tileswar Ram Mandir while going to a private school in Digapahandi of Ganjam district, Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra assured to take stringent action against the persons responsible for the mishap.

Speaking exclusively to the Newsroom.co.in, Mishra said, “A case has already been registered in the local police station and enquiry has already been started into the matter.”

The police is verifying whether the auto-rickshaw was engaged by the school authority or by the parents of the students and accordingly police will take action, Mishra added.

Police is also enquiring whether the driver of the auto was driving rashly.

Since the enquiry is underway into the sad incident, Mishra refused to delve detail.

However, he assured to take stringent action against the persons responsible for the same.

Meanwhile the deceased has been identified as Ajay Pradhan (5), son of Bulu Pradhan and a resident of Gaduali village in Kabisuryanagar. He was staying at his maternal uncle’s house in Tilleswar village under Digapahandi police limits.

According to reports, the mishap took place at 9.30 am when the auto-rickshaw carrying students to Saraswati Sishu Mandir.

The mishap occurred due to rash driving by the driver following which the minor boy accidentally slipped and fell down on the road, sources said.

Though he was rushed to the Digapahandi Community Health Centre, the doctor declared him “dead upon arrival”.
