Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the master plan for the development of Maa Sarala Temple, one of the famous shrines in Odisha.
The centuries-old shrine at Jhankad in Jagatsinghpur district will get a facelift under the Integrated Development of Heritage and Monuments and Tourists Destination scheme as part of the 5T initiative.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sanctioned a fund of Rs 42 crore in the first phase for the development of the ancient shrine. The project will be completed within a year, according to release issued by the CMO.
As per the master plan, the sub temples in the premises of Maa Sarala Temple will be developed along with development of the pond. The construction of the heritage wall will be done along with the construction of the east-west north and south gates. Four main gates in as many directions will be installed apart from construction of kitchen, anand bazar, godown, and a new Dola Altar, under this programme.
There will be a police control room, cloak room, prasad distribution system, drinking water facilities.
As many as 72 businessmen who will be displaced due to the beatification of the temple will also be rehabilitated.
Earlier, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian had visited the temple and held discussions with local residents, servitors and district administration about the master plan for development of the famous shrine.
