Bhubaneswar: Marking a new era of development in Kalahandi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated three major power station projects in the district.
Naveen inaugurated the much-awaited 220/132/33 KV grid substation at Baner in Jaypatana block in the district through video conferencing. He also dedicated the two 33 KV feeder lines coming out of the grid.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said these projects would benefit over 30,000 people of Jaypatna, Koksara & Kalampur and stated that power supply will also be extended to other regions of the district.
The people will get better quality and uninterrupted electricity services. Power cut problems will be eliminated and farmers, women and students will get benefits. The electricity services would be extended to other parts of the district, Naveen said.
He further said that Kalahandi will create a new identity for development in the coming days. The district has made rapid strides in the field of agriculture.
Construction of the government medical college is in full swing. Bhawanipatna Autonomous College has been turned into Kalahandi university, he said.
The Biju Expressway will serve as a socio-economic lifeline for western Odisha and will accelerate the pace of economic development in Kalahandi district, he added.
The Odisha Government has spent Rs 82 crore on the 220 kV grid project in Jaypatna. Through this grid, the people of Kalahandi for the first time will be able to get electricity directly from the Indravati project. Another 132 KV double circuit line of 47-km long will be connected to Junagarh in the coming days.
