Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated 11 families who gave their land for the sake of security of Shree Jagannath temple.
The Chief Minister felicitated the families at a function at Lok Seva Bhawan here on Wednesday acknowledging their sacrifice for the development of a security zone within 75-metre radius of the 12th-century shrine.
Naveen gave them silver idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra as gift.
Highly appreciating the families for their contribution towards making Puri a world-class heritage city, the Chief Minister said that the people of Odisha are really indebted to their sacrifice.
‘The future generation will always remember your sacrifice’, the CM told the families.
Naveen also praised the families for accepting the State Government’s special relief and rehabilitation package.
He also appealed the other families to accept the package and make sacrifice of their properties for the security of the heritage city.
Recently, the Odisha Government had announced a special relief and rehabilitation package in addition to the normal financial benefit availed under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 for the affected people during the ongoing eviction drive.
