Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the e-bus and e-rickshaw services here on Friday.
The Chief Minister flagged off the e-vehicles at the Airport Road in the capital city.
With the inauguration of e-bus and e-rickshaw services, the State Government has taken a major step towards reducing air pollution in the city.
In the first phase, 10 e-buses and 50 e-rickshaws have been started. The Government has plans to operate 50 more e-buses in the coming days.
Emphasizing on gender equality, 50 per cent women have been appointed as guides by each CRUT. Emphasis has also been given on the employment of women for other jobs. While there are 30 seats in each bus, the seats reserved for women are marked in pink, according to an official release.
It is worth mentioning that 255 Diesel buses are currently operated by CRUT.
