Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the multinational conglomerate Welspun Group’s textile complex at Choudwar in Cuttack district.
With this, a glorious chapter of industrial redevelopment has begun in Choudwar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that today is a great day for Choudwar. Choudwar is going to regain its glory. In the early fifties, Biju Babu laid the foundation for industrial development in Choudwar. The Chief Minister said that today once again a new history has been written for Choudwar, for Cuttack district, for the whole of Odisha in the field of industry.
It is worth noting that Welspun Group is a famous textile manufacturing company in the world. It is building an integrated textile manufacturing facility and warehousing complex at Choudwar with an investment of Rs 3050 crore. This will create 10,000 employment opportunities. Along with this, the industrial environment of the state will be improved along with creating huge business opportunities for small and medium industries.
During the 2022 Make-in-Odisha programme, a team on the Odisha Government met Welspun Group Chairman BK Goenka and proposed to establish this industry in Odisha. The group agreed to set up industries in Odisha considering the progressive industrial policy and favorable industrial environment of state
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the cotton farmers of our districts like Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada and Gajapati will also benefit from this industry. Opining that there are many opportunities for women in the textile industry, he said that their skills will be developed and there will be many opportunities for their employment.
The Chief Minister thanked Welspun Group Chairman BK Goenka for investing in Odisha and said that the Welspun Group’s partnership will create a new chapter of growth in Odisha’s development journey. He promised that the state government would provide all support for the success of this industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Goenka said that in the last 20 years there has been a significant development in Odisha. Due to the dreams and hard work of the Chief Minister, such a change has been seen in Odisha today, he said.
The Welspun Group Chairman also praised the 5T initiative of the state government and said that due to this policy, the government schools of Odisha have become better than the private schools. Odisha is getting most of the investments in the country. Highlighting the basis of industrial development in Odisha, he spoke about Biju Babu’s efforts.
State Industries Minister Pratap Keshari Deb, 5T & Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian, MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, MLA Souvik Biswal and other officials were present on the occasion.
