Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed grief over the death of Odia Jawan Nilachal Patel in Manipur. Taking to X, Naveen wrote “I am saddened to learn about the martyrdom of Nilachal Patel, an officer of the Assam Rifles in Manipur. His sacrifices in the service of the nation will always be remembered. May the Jawan’s soul rest in peace. My condolences to the bereaved family members.”
Nilachal belonged to Baghapalli village of Bheden Block in Bargarh. According to reports, he died in an accident while on patrolling duty. He joined Assam Rifles in 2004.
