Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Kalia assistance of Rs 33 Crore for the farmers of Puri District. In total, 165131 farmers of Puri district will get assistance under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation scheme. Small and marginal farmers will get an amount of Rs 2000 each. This assistance is being given for the Rabi crop season for 2021-22. The amount will be disbursed directly in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Todays’s Kalia assistance came a gift for the farmers of Puri on the eve of Diwali.
On September 11th this year, Naveen had distributed Rs 742 Crore to 37,12,942 farmers of the state but the farmers belonging to Puri could not be given the benefit because of Pipili bypolls. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has started the Kalia scheme to give financial assistance to the small, marginal and landless farmers of the state. The scheme has become one of the best farmer assistance schemes of the country today. The Kalia assistance is helping the farmers to purchase seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other implements. Landless farmers are able to increase their income with the help of this assistance. The scheme has been successful in lessening the debt burden of the farmers of the state.
