Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched the Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana. Under this scheme, Mission Shakti Leaders and Community Support staff are provided interest subvention on bank loans up to Rs 1,00,000 enabling them to purchase a scooter. Today 15 thousand Mission Shakti women members took delivery of scooters under the scheme. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that “This day will be an important day in Women Empowerment for always. We have taken another important step forward for empowerment of our mothers. Mission Shakti mothers today got scooters. For this, loan worth Rs 1 Lakh is being given. The State Government will give Rs 528 crore interest subvention for them. More than 2 lakh Mission Shakti mothers ad grassroots staff will get scooters. Today, more than fifteen thousand Mission Shakti mothers got scooters.”
The Chief Minister said, Mobility is empowerment. The Scooter Yojana has brought freedom in the mobility of our mothers. It has also brought new opportunities professionally for them. I know our mothers are working very well. I have full faith that they will do very well further and they can use their full potential. The Mission Shakti organization of Seventy lakh mothers will get further strengthened. The mobility of our mothers will give new dimension to Odisha’s development.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Mission Shakti Department, Sujata R Karthikeyan said that Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana is a ground-breaking initiative. Scooter has become a symbol of women empowerment. A symbol of their hope and self esteem. A symbol of their independence.
