Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sanctioned Rs. 20 crore for the transformation of the Gupteswar shrine in Koraput district under 5T Initiatives. The famous Shiva temple will undergo a complete transformation and made into one of the most important religious, historical and tourist places of Odisha.
It is worth mentioning here that on the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, 5T Secretary V.K. Pandian had visited Koraput on 3rd February and had reviewed the development potential of the Gupteswar temple. The 5T Secretary had directed the District Collector to prepare a detailed project report for the improvement and beautification of the temple in consultation with the temple staff, committee members, public representatives and local people.
After receiving the report, the Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs 20 crore as per the proposal of the District Collector. This transformative development work will be undertaken under the 5T Initiatives. Chief Minister Naveen has ordered for the improvement of the temple without affecting the natural beauty of the place.
The development project includes improvement and lighting of the main road of the temple, laying of kondolite stone footpath, beautification of the temple entrance, various amenities for devotees and tourists like drinking water taps, toilets, illumination of the cave, beautification of the banks of the Sabari river, construction of new shops for rehabilitating vendors and planting of trees will also be done along with arrangements for landslide prevention and hill protection.
